Leda McKenry Obituary
Shelburne, MA - Dr. Leda McKenry, 86, of Zerah Fiske Rd., passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025.
She was born in Plainfield, NJ on December 6, 1938 to Robert and Lorraine (Van Wycke) Staysa.
Dr. McKenry earned a BS and MBS in Nursing, an MBA in International Business, a PhD in International Health Development, and certification as a Nurse Practitioner in primary health care. Her expertise was in the areas of clinical excellence in primary health care and development of primary health facilities in developing countries. Her international work had taken place in Columbia, The Bahamas, Jamaica, Spain, the United Kingdom and Ghana, West Africa. She had served as a manager, educator and consultant at the local, regional and national level. She was also a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.
Survivors include her husband Paul Shuldiner of Shelburne, MA, sons Anthony Udell and Nicholas Udell of Shelburne, Ma, five grandchildren, brother Robert Staysa of Klamath Falls, OR, through her marriage to Paul she acquired 6 children, 18 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
In accordance with her wishes, Leda's green burial will take place Friday, August 15 at 2:00pm in Hill Cemetery, 72 Old Village Rd., Shelburne.

I am so sorry to hear about Leda's passing. I was a student in the RN to BS program and in 2005 I was given the opportunity to travel with her to Ghana. It was an incredible experience under her guidance. Dr. McKenry provided such support, I was encouraged to continue mission work. While I did not go back to Ghana, I have participated in many trips to Eastern Africa. I will always be grateful to Leda, she opened my eyes to mission work. Paul was on that trip to Ghana, Paul, I am wishing you well during this difficult time.

Well, never having met Dr. McHenry, I have used her books and her wisdom once studying to be a nurse, teaching nursing, and as the dean of nursing. She lived a very important life and I send my warmest wishes to her family.
