Linda Bird Obituary

Linda L. Bird

Greenfield, MA - She was born October 1, 1942 in Lowell, MA. She had two passions in life. One was raising beef cattle & managing an animal shelter while living in the Richmond IN area during the 80's. Her true calling was working with the elderly folks. In 1979 she earned her Activity Directors Training Program certificate from the Kansas Health Care Assoc. where she started out as a Nurse's Aid. In the early 90's she moved to MA to be near her daughter. She got a job at the former Anchorage Nursing Home in Shelburne as the Activities Director. When they closed, she transferred to the former Buckley Nursing Home where she continued her work in the Activities Dept. until she retired at the age of 73.

Survived by her best friend and daughter, Tracey (Stephen) Crowningshield. Two grandsons; Justen (Jaimie) Brooks of Colrain MA and Matthew Brooks of Heath MA.

Sisters; Nancy (Bob) Harvey of FL, Susan Maiocchi of Pelham NH, Victoria Dodier-Cootey of KY, Sara (Paul) Patenode of Hudson NH, & Joanne Grba of CA.

Brothers; J. Timothy Zelonis of Pelham NH, Jonathan Zelonis of ME/FL, Joseph (Robin) Zelonis of ME & Bucky Zelonis of Londonderry NH.

There will not be any services as requested by Linda. A private family service will be held in the Spring.

I met Linda at Buckley where her dedication and love for her residents came through every day. She genuinely adored my Mother and my Mother adored her. They had a connection which l appreciated. We worked together and became friends. I will always cherish our lunchtime laughs..that continued long after we both retired! Miss you Linda.

Linda was a remarkable person. I´ll never forget her caring ways when my Mom was at the Anchorage Nursing Home. She added a bright spot to the day. I saw her years after and she remembered me and my Mom even though Mom was at the Anchorage for a short time. My condolences to the family. She was a gem.

I'm so sad to hear of Linda's passing. We had such good times together! She had such a passion for her work at the nursing home and loved all of "her people." Her spunky personality and sense of humor kept us on our toes for sure. Please accept my sincere condolences on this huge loss.

My sincere condolences! I can´t even imagine the loss. Aunt Linda always was very cheerful when we talked on the phone, not very often, but I would call her from time to time to see how she was doing. She will definitely be missed.
