Mark Jarvis Obituary

Mark D. Jarvis

Becket, MA - Mark D. Jarvis, 61, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025 with his family by his side. He had been living with prostate cancer for a few years.

Mark was born in Springfield, MA the son of Kenneth E. and Cynthia M (Baker) Jarvis. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Franklin County Technical School class of '82.

Ever since he was a kid he wanted to work with and enjoy anything with a machine. Motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats, cars, trucks, you name it and Mark was going to learn how it worked - and then make it better. Over the years his experiences helped him figure out how to fix just about anything and anyone who knew him could rely on him for help. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who asked and never asked for anything in return. He was a true friend and a down-to-earth good person.

Over the years Mark tried his hand at owning different types of businesses; from auto body repair to snowmobile equipment and repair. He gave his full attention and energy into these businesses but found it difficult to bring them up to the level he felt they deserved. Later, he was fortunate to have found a position with the J.S. Rae Company. It was with J.S. Rae that he was able to use all of his knowledge and experience to become a valued piece of a large operation. From operating all types of equipment to also fixing all types of equipment, Mark enjoyed working every day. Even though cancer tried to slow him down he continued to go to work because he knew things needed to get done.

He always wanted to own a "camp" where he and his family could get away and just relax. A number of years ago he was able to find one on the Connecticut River and that was his favorite place to be.

He will be missed by his family, friends and co-workers.

Mark leaves behind his wife Mary Jean Jarvis, his 4 grandchildren whom he raised: McKenzy, Patrick, Kameryn and Aubrianna, great grandson Hudson, his brother Todd Jarvis of Montague, a daughter Jenna, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, Nov. 1, at 2:00 pm at the Sweetheart Restaurant.

I am so very sorry to hear of Mark's passing. I would see Mark every 6 months or so to check his pacemaker. He was such a good guy, and one of my favorite patients.

You have my condolences,
