Mary L. Doleva

Greenfield, MA - Mary Louise (Shumway) Doleva, daughter of Floyd Neff & Gladys M. Leigh Shumway died Friday morning, 10-21-22 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol, MA. Born February 14, 1928, she attended schools in Amherst, MA where she lived and graduated from Amherst High School in 1946. While in highschool and after graduation she worked at Powers Dress Shop and Milanar Hats. She married Edward P. Doleva in 1948, shortly after his return from WWII where he served in the U.S. Army. They moved to Halifax, MA where Ed became a salesman for his brother-in-law, Sturtevant Poultry Farm. They returned to Amherst, MA in 1961 when they purchased their farm on Belchertown Rd and successfully ran their farm store for 8 yrs. With family and friends they ran the farm until 1971 when they moved to Lupinwood in Greenfield, MA. She spent her adult life between Lupinwood, 36 Brookside Ave. and the Arbors of Greenfield. Throughout her life, Mary sang in choirs and churches in all the places they lived. She enjoyed singing, gardening, bridge, knitting and crochet. She was a member of the 2nd Congregational Church and the Board of Organized Work, garden club and drama club. Most of all she enjoyed her family as they grew. Mary is predeceased by her husband, Edward P. Doleva, daughter Cynthia L. Bond, granddaughter Jennifer L. Mowry Bond, sister Betty Worthen and husband Leonard, brother Richard L. Shumway and wife Janice and her son, John E. Doleva. She leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Diane L. Doleva, granddaughter Jessica L. Doleva and great-grandson Ryan E.of Georgetown, TX; Grandson John P. Doleva, his wife Brooke and great-grandson John Liam Doleva of Greenfield, MA; Grandson Christopher M. Doleva and his wife Savannah of Georgetown, TX; Grandson Michael Bond, wife Stacy, and great-grandchildren Andrew R.and William M. Bond of Northfield, MA. Graveside services will be held on Nov. 17th at 1 pm at Wildwood Cemetery, 70 Strong Street, Amherst, MA. A heartfelt thank you to the Arbors of Greenfield for the care and friendship over the years.
