Maud Savage Obituary

NEWMARKET, NH - Maud Fuller Savage, formerly of Deerfield, MA, died October 6, 2015.
Born February 21, 1929, in White Plains, NY, she was the daughter of Howard James and Frances Higginson Savage and grew up in Scarsdale, NY.
Maud graduated from Abbot Academy in Andover, MA, Briarcliff Junior College in Briarcliff Manor, NY, and Katherine Gibbs School in New York City. During her career she worked for Charles Scribner's Sons and Doubleday & Co, retiring as an editor. During her time in Deerfield, Maud served on the Arts Lottery Council and the Planning Board. She also volunteered at Memorial Hall Museum in Old Deerfield.
Maud was moved by words and poetry, inspired by her travels, and beloved by many. Maud's memories were able to transport anyone to anywhere she visited, be it Kenya or Scotland. She loved animals, particularly elephants. She had a sharp wit and a unique sense of humor that made her memorable to many.
Survivors include her sister, Cordelia Marche of Newmarket, niece and nephews, Jane, Tom and Charles, and many great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her nephew, John.
Memorials may be sent to the Deerfield Rescue Fund. Interment private.
