Nancy Zewinski Obituary

TURNERS FALLS - Nancy Ellen (Hanley) Zewinski passed away peacefully on July 20, 2017 at Buckley Health Care Center in Greenfield.
Nancy was born in Greenfield on January 19, 1939 the 5th daughter of Hartwell and Margaret (Long) Hanley. She grew up in Greenfield attended Holy Trinity parochial school and graduated from Greenfield High school with the Class of 1956.
She married Bernie Zewinski in 1959 in Greenfield and shortly thereafter moved to 20 Norman Circle in Turners Falls where they proudly raised their four children and currently reside.
Nancy was employed by New England Telephone for many years retiring in 1994. She thoroughly enjoyed following her grandchildren's school and sporting events, caring for her summer gardens, birthday lunches with her sisters, and vacationing in Mattapoissett, GHS classmate luncheons, filling Christmas stockings and looking forward to ""get togethers"" throughout the year with her family. She was an avid sports fan following Notre Dame, Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
Nancy was hardworking and generous. She will be fondly remembered for her joy of cooking and baking, making a great sandwich, her signature blue-barb and apple pies, family dinners and most notably baked stuffed lobsters, all consistently prepared with extra love.
Nancy was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Turners Falls and a member of the New England Telephone Pioneers.
Nancy is survived by her beloved husband, Bernie ""Zoo"", Pam and Charles LaBove of Shrewsbury, Susie and Bill Prunier ofSouth Deerfield, Sandy and Alan Miner of Greenfield, and Joe and Sheila Zewinski of Whately.
She leaves her cherished grandchildren Caitlin, Kristen, Matthew, Chad, Kelly, Brett, Derek, Billy, Anna, Amanda, Eli, Brody and her adoring great-grandchildren Levi, CJ and Alaina.
Nancy is also survived by her sister Rosemary Zamojski and her husband Bob, her brother Jack Hanley and wife Lynn, her dear friend Marilyn Matysiewicz along with several nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends.
Nancy was predeceased by her sisters and brother Peggy Carlisle, Dick Hanley, Betty Petrin, Mary Reid, Joan Hanley.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday (7-26-17) at 10 AM at Our Lady of Peach Church, 90 Seventh St., Turners Falls, MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends, neighbors and relatives are invited to join the family for a visitation at Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls prior to the church service from 8:30-9:30 AM.
Nancy has requested charitable donations be directed to Our Lady of Peace, 90 Seventh St., Turners Falls, MA 01376 or the YMCA, 451 Main St., Greenfield, MA 01301.
