Paul Huggard Obituary

Paul E. Huggard

Shelburne Falls, MA - Paul E. Huggard passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife Rosemary (Egan) of 36 years by his side after battling cancer.

He was born the son of Gordon and Anne (Brewer) Huggard in Woburn, MA, and spent most of his childhood growing up in Gloucester, MA. At the age of 17, he moved to Danbury, NH. And later moved to the Mohawk Region of Western MA in 1980 where he spent the rest of his life.

Beginning in the early 1960's, he had worked a few auto mechanic positions including Grappone Ford in Concord NH. Then in the early 1970's, he went to work for the B&M Railroad at the Westboro Station on the Northern Railroad line. His years with B&M took him to railroad yards in E. Deerfield, Springfield and Greenfield MA, as well as White River Jct VT. For a few years in the 1980's, he drove a tractor trailer truck for Tatro Trucking in Charlemont, MA with runs to places like Martha's Vineyard with lumbar and sod. Then from 1989 until his retirement in 2002, he was employed by the Housatonic Railroad in New Milford, CT. He always said he loved where he lived and loved where he worked, so he commuted 2 hrs in each direction.

When he was not working, he loved being outdoors snowmobiling, boating, archery and riding his Harley.

He was predeceased by his parents, an unborn twin brother (unnamed), mother-in-law Rita Egan, and unborn great grandson Forrest Paul Holloway.

In addition to wife Rosemay, he is survived by three daughters, Tricia Watson (husband Brian) of Auburn NH; Melissa Pettersen of Woodstock VT and Jessica Haines of Cornith VT; and son in law Raymond Pettersen of Dorchester, NH. Seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home in Shelburne Falls, MA on Sunday May 4th from 12 - 3 pm. Paul's burial will take place at a future date.
