Peter J. Sak, Jr.

Greenfield, MA - Peter J. Sak, Jr., 90, of Cherry Street died Tuesday 3/19/24 at home. He was born in Greenfield on August 28, 1933, the son of Peter and Stella (Rogalski) Sak. Peter attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield Vocational High School.

Peter was VP of production and grounds maintenance for the Channing L. Bete Company for twenty-seven years before his retirement. Prior to that, he was employed in the parks department for the Town of Greenfield and Ally Newcomb Landscaping. He spent many late nights plowing driveways during and following snow storms.

Peter enjoyed vegetable gardening, fishing, and playing the slot machines at local casinos. He was an accomplished handyman that loved working on his home. Peter was an avid Boston sports fan and could often be found watching the Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox.

Among his survivors, Peter leaves two sons, Brian Sak of Sonora, CA and Jeffrey Sak of Bernardston; a sister, Paulette Caouette of Easthampton; two granddaughters, Kaitlin Agbayani and her husband Nathaniel, Theresa Cabral and her husband Felipe; and four great grandchildren, Lillian Agbayani and Luca, Mila and Isabelle Cabral.

Peter was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joanna M. (Banash) Sak on January 3, 2016.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 5th at 10am at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 84 K Street, Turners Falls. Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in Greenfield.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, please plant a vegetable plant in your garden in honor of Peter.
