Raymond Thomson

Hawley, MA - Raymond Thomson, 83, of East Hawley Rd., passed away on May 17, 2023 with his wife Elaine, daughter Heather and granddaughter Nicole by his side.

Ray was born in New Bedford, MA on September 24, 1939 the son of Vincent and Alice (Holden) Thomson.

At the age of 17 Ray enlisted in the US Navy and served during the Vietnam war. His service began Sept. 27, 1956 and lasted for 19 years until his honorable discharge on July 15, 1975.

He was a member of the Shelburne Falls V.F.W. Post # 8503, a member of the US Navy and US Marine Fleet Reserve Association, the Shelburne Falls Eagles, and the National Horse Pitchers Association.

Ray was a handle fabricator for the former Lamson & Goodnow Cutlery in Shelburne Falls.

Ray leaves behind his loving and devoted wife Elaine, daughters Pamela, Stephanie and Heather, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter Sonia.

At Ray's request there are no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hawley Volunteer Fire Dept.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Ray´s passing. I was privileged to have met him. I know he had character and personality that endeared him to all who came in contact with him. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Nothing can take from you the wealth of Wonderful Memories and Happiness that you have shared for many years. Let your faith and courage bring you peace in the midst of this great sorrow.
