Robert Henry Shippee

GREENFIELD - Robert Henry Shippee, 72, of 338 Deerfield Street, Greenfield, Ma. died January 4, 2017. He died peacefully at home with his wife Mary Kingsbury Shippee and his family by his side. He was born March 18, 1944 in Middletown, CT, the son of Winifred Decker Shippee and father Bernard Shippee. He attended Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls. He married the former Mary Kingsbury on May 2, 1964 in Ashfield, MA. He worked for the Bendix Corporation and then for America Gas as a technician for over 34 years. He was a lifetime member of the Mohawk Ramblers Motor Cycle Club, a lifetime member of the Millers Falls Rod and Gun Club and a member of the Montague Elks, and Moose Club of Greenfield.
He enjoyed motorcycles and antique cars. He also loved planting a large garden every spring, boating and fishing and traveling with his wife around the country especially to Panama City Beach, Florida where they lived for 4 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, a brother John, 2 sisters, Arlene Willard and Judith Tetreault.
He leaves behind his brother Bernard Shippee of New York, his brother Allen Shippee (wife Dawn), his sister Carol Rice (husband David). His children Millissa Jean Sanders of New Hampshire, James Robert Shippee (wife Jennifer) of Greenfield, and Jennifer Rose Devlin (husband Jesh) of Greenfield. His grandchildren, Christopher Sanders (wife Shannon), Stephanie Foster (husband Wesley), Alexander Brenster, Emeline Devlin, Jimmy James Devlin, Connor Patrick Shippee, and James Shippee, Damian Shippee, Duncan Shippee, great-grandchildren, Tobin and Tyson Foster, Christopher and Nevaeh Sanders.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
