Ronald Bohonowicz Obituary

SOUTH DEERFIELD - Ronald John Bohonowicz, age 60, of South Deerfield, passed away on May 16, 2018 from a brain tumor (Glioblastoma). Ron was born on October 23, 1957 and lived his entire childhood in Whately and spent his entire married life in South Deerfield.
He attended Smith Vocational High School, received an Associate's Degree from Holyoke Community College, a Bachelor's Degree from Westfield State and a Master's Degree from UMass Amherst.
Ron's career included working at Digital Equipment Corporation in Westfield as a Computer Technician, Lego Systems in Enfield as an Engineering Production Manager and at Yankee Candle in South Deerfield as Vice President of Engineering. He led the youth baseball and softball leagues in Deerfield and was also a youth coach for baseball, softball, basketball and football. He loved spending time at his home in Newport, Rhode Island and vacations at the Cape. He also enjoyed many sporting activities with his extended family and friends and was an avid outdoorsman. Ron was known around town as a jack-of-all-trades and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 41 years Cheryl (Seavey) Bohonowicz. He was a loving father of two children; a daughter, Sarah Carney and her husband Brian of Deerfield and a son, Keith Bohonowicz of Plainfield and proud Grampa of Jack and Emma Carney. In addition he leaves behind his cherished sister Joanne (Bohonowicz) Pliska of Hadley and brothers, William and James; his parents and his brother Glenn pre-deceased him. He is also survived by his sister in law, Jane Boron and her husband Jace of Shelburne, his Uncle, Robert Black of Natick, many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ron will be remembered for his wisdom and his kind and humble nature.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Wrisley Funeral Home, 90 Sugarloaf St, South Deerfield. I've known Ron since his early days at Digital. His name comes up occasionally when I encounter someone who knew him from either DEC or Yankee. Great guy, gone way too soon.

So sorry for your loss. I was a teacher with many physical plant responsibilities. Ron was present in his managerial capacity but far beyond in his patient, good humoured way. Sadly missed by many.

Ron was a class act. We worked together at Digital Equipment Corp. in Westfield in the 80s and he was the best technician around. Always smiling, always ready to help. I was proud to work with him on several projects and was deeply saddened to hear about his passing. My sincerest condolences to the family.

So sorry to hear of Ron's passing. I worked with Ron at Digital Equipment Corp in Westfield for many years. We were all in engineering departments and worked closely together. He was always professional in his manner, but also a great friend to have. Light hearted, and friendly with a good laugh to make everyone around him feel comfortable. Just an all around great person. Thought of him often. God Bless to all of his family and friends he has left behind...he will be truly missed.
Rest In Peace, my friend.

Sincerely,
Leo Guglielmo

Cousin Ronnie was 2 years younger than me. His childhood home was right down the street. All us cousins played hard and worked hard together in our young years. Our family love made lemons into lemonaid and all memories good.
