Sandra Hoskin Obituary

Sandra Louise Hoskin, 78 Asheville, NC died on January 30, 2021, at Harmony at Reynolds Mountain in Asheville, NC.

A native of Massachusetts, Sandra was the daughter of the late Clifford and Margie Rock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard R. Hoskin, her brother Robert H. Rock and her nephew, Tom Hoskin.

Sandra and Howard moved to Asheville in 1985 from Massachusetts. Sandra became a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in 1986, where she served as the first woman/chairperson of the Board of Trustees, chaired the Board of Deacons and Personnel, and served on many other church committees. She was also a community volunteer and served on the boards of Habitat for Humanity and Manna Food Bank and arbitrated for the Better Business Bureau.

Sandra enjoyed her family and friends, the time spent traveling with Howard for business and pleasure, their golfing trips, their cottage at the lake in MA, and her Florida trip with the "girls." She was a former member of the Asheville Country Club where for many years she enjoyed playing golf with friends from the Ladies Golf Association.

Surviving family members include her stepchildren: Carolyn Worden (Ralph) of MA, Susan Bedard (Richard) of NC, Larry Hoskin (Shawn) of FL; step-grandchildren Leigh Turner (Brad), Greg Bedard (Rita), Kevin Bedard (Tracie), Drew Bedard (Jessica), Amy Lavner (Ryan), and Carrie Hoskin; step-great grandchildren Olivia and Avery Turner, Jason and Priya Bedard, Matthew and Mallory Bedard, Evan, Claire and Banks Bedard, Cameron Lavner; sister-in-law Sandra Rock of MD; nephews Robert Rock of MD, Michael Rock (Kim) of MD. She also leaves a niece Patricia Sweeney of CA and a niece-in-law Aggie Hoskin of OH.

A memorial service will be held on a future date at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 20 Oak Street, Asheville, NC. A private burial will be at the WNC Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC and in MA.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to the WNC Community Fund at 4 Vanderbilt Park Dr., Asheville, NC 28803 marked for the Howard and Sandra Hoskin Endowment Fund to benefit Manna Food Bank or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 Attention: Office of giving.

We were kids in Erving. I spoke w/her a couple years ago,when she called and I could not remember her at the time. Dam block in memory after stroke,sucks. A couple years older than I,she graduated and moved. RIP,Sandy. My first love. Peace.
