Stacy Bissell Obituary

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VT - Stacy E. Bissell, 45, formerly of Charlemont, MA, died Monday, January 2, 2017 as a result of an automobile accident in Barton, Vermont.
Stacy was born in Greenfield, MA on November 27, 1971 the daughter of Verne W. and Gail A. (Smith) Bissell. She attended local schools and was a graduate of the Stoneleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield, class of 1989.
From an early age Stacy was a caring and compassionate soul. She always wanted to help others and care for them. As an adult, she found her true calling in becoming a registered nurse. She achieved her bachelors degree in nursing and her entire life centered around providing a loving environment for those in her care. Stacy focused 25 years of her professional service to palliative care. She served in various positions from floor nurse to clinical manager. Her knowledge of nursing and her ability to respond to the needs of her patients quickly and effectively is what set her apart. Stacy often received cards from former patients and their families thanking her for her love and care, even long after they had needed her care.
Stacy's most recent position was registered nurse with the Veterans Medical Center in White River Junction. Prior to that she had been a clinical manager for a Visiting Nurse and Hospice Association, a hospice nurse for Bayada Hospice as well as other palliative care positions.
Although nursing was Stacy's passion, her children and her family were her life. Her unconditional love for her family was what kept her focused. Her creative side inspired her to make gifts and crafts for those she loved. She enjoyed to garden around her home and loved to dance when the mood was right.
Survivors include her parents of Charlemont, MA, her wife Sandra McNary of White River Junction, a son currently serving in the US Army in Afghanistan, SPC Luke A. Bissell, his wife Jordan and their son Hudson, all of Tennessee, a daughter Brittany Bissell currently a student at the University of Farmington in Maine, a brother Mark Bissell and his wife Sara of Goshen, NH, and many cousins, friends and colleagues. Stacy's brother Jim predeceased her in March of 1990.
A memorial service will take place Tuesday, January 10 at 11:00 am at Trinity Church, Severance St., Shelburne Falls, with Rev. Marguerite Sheehan, pastor as celebrant.
There are no calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested donations be made to Bayada Hospice, 316 Main St., Norwich, VT 05055

Stacy was an amazing gift to our family during the most difficult time of our lives. She helped us to make it a special time filled with laughter and love as we shared the loss of my Mom. I am heartbroken for those whose lives she touched and for those who will never get to know this amazing special person. Family truly was everything to Stacy and we are honored she was able to be such a special part of ours. Her smile lit up the room and every time I hear Happy I think of Stacy. Sending love, prayer and hugs to all.
