Hawley, MA - Tammy Alice [Malek] Schofield, 64, of Hawley, MA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on December 22, 2023 after battling a long illness.

She leaves behind her best friend & loving husband Michael Schofield, Sr.; 3 sons: Michael Jr. of Bernardston, MA, Chuck [Elisa] of Granby, CT and David [Jen] of Hawley, MA; 9 grandchildren: Kiara, Gavin, Garrett, Kyleigh, Gabriel, Nathaniel, Madison, Jacob and Dakota; 3 sisters and several nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her son Sean [Heather] Schofield, and her brother, Joe [Kelly] Malek. She was also pre-deceased by her parents, Adam and Mildred Malek and her in-laws, Ernest and Jasmine Schofield.

Tammy married Michael, the love of her life, 36 years ago. They enjoyed hiking and fishing and just being outdoors in nature. They worked side by side for many years as owners/operators of Colrain Supergas and S&S Automotive. She and Mike would arrive early every morning to prepare hot meals that workers from all over the area would come in to enjoy. Tammy also worked for many years at Shelburne Falls Veterinary Hospital where her great love of animals was well known by all. She would rescue and care for any hurt animal she came across – sometimes even being referred to as the local animal "whisperer".

Tammy loved gardening and growing plants with the inside of her and Mike's home often resembling a greenhouse. She was a talented artist and enjoyed art of all kinds - especially Native American art and artifacts with which she decorated their home. She created many beautiful fairy houses using just raw materials she found outdoors. Tammy was also a frequent volunteer at Western Mass Food Bank in Ashfield. She had a huge heart and was always taking care of everyone else in her life.

A celebration of her life and luncheon will be held on Saturday, January 6th, 2024 at the Eagles Club in Shelburne Falls, MA from 11:00 – 2:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Western Mass Food Bank. Arrangements made under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, 104 Bridge Street, Shelburne Falls, MA.
