Carmelita Luna Obituary

Carmelita Camarena Luna died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, May 7th; after a 6 month illness.
She was born in Porterville CA, on December 30, 1928. She graduated from Porterville High School and then she started working at Jones Hardware Store in Porterville, California.
She married Francisco P. Luna in 1953. After two years they relocated to Mexico where they lived in the states of Sonora and Sinaloa for 14 years. While in Mexico Carmelita was a home maker, she was a devoted mother and wife. The family returned to Porterville in 1973 where they established their home. Carmelita was employed at the Employment Development Department (EDD)as a seasonal worker.
She was predeceased by her husband Francisco P. Luna; her parents Ramon and Belen Camarena; brothers: Lawrence Camarena, Jesse Camarena, John Camarena, Michael Camarena; and sisters: Lupe Jalil, and Eliza Camarena (passed away as a baby).
She is survived by her brother Raymond Camarena (Linda) of Porterville, California; and sister Nancy Bohl of Boron, California.
She is also survived by her five children; Francisco Luna Jr. (Ofira), Porterville, California; Eddy Luna Springfield, Missouri; George Luna (Connie), Porterville, California; and daughters Leticia Rodriguez (Carlos) of Mardera, California; and Sylvia Rodriguez (Osvaldo) of Porterville, California. Twelve grandchildren: Cristina Raya, Victoria Lucio, Lorena Rodriguez, Veronica Villagomez, Osvaldo Rodriguez Jr., Carlos Rodriguez Jr., Antonio Rodriguez, Alexandra Hernandez, Jasmin Luna, Zoey Luna, Samantha Lund and Cecilia Luna. Nine great-grandchildren: Vincent Rodriguez, Lilly Espinoza, Francisco Uribe, Bella Lucio, Ellie Lucio, Nicholas Rodriguez, Ezekiel Rodriguez, Rio Villagomez and Luna Villagomez; one great-great-grandchild Rowan Rodriguez; and many extended family members.
Carmelita was a widow for 31 years. After retirement she stayed active joining The Catholic Daughters; she traveled with family; and participated in multiple family functions.
Services: Rosary June 2nd at Myers Funeral Home, 248 North E Street; Mass: June 3rd at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1765 N Newcomb St, (burial to follow).
