Christopher Jon Bastian

1956 - 2022

Christopher Jon Bastian was born on September 1, 1956 in Porterville Ca. He went to be with our Lord on January 31, 2022. He was 65 years old. Chris was the oldest of two boys born to Larry and Myrna Bastian. He had many adventures with his family while growing up, including fishing, hunting and hiking in the Sierra Nevada mountains and coastal range. While in Vandalia 4H Chris won a few ribbons for sheep. He was also a past master councilor in DeMolay as a teen. Chris met his future wife, Jamie Downum, the last week before graduation from Porterville High School in 1974. They married in 1981 and after several years they started a family. They recently celebrated their 40th anniversary. He enjoyed watching his children play baseball while they were growing up, and was looking forward to watching his 3 grandchildren choose a sport to play. Chris loved to serve at Family Life Church, especially teaching and praying for others. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the outdoors and local history with family and friends. The hikes he led with his church family became an annual event. Chris worked as a citrus fieldman for many years. He was a partner at Sierra Vista Ag for the last 5 years. Chris is survived by his wife Jamie, his daughter Jordan (Brian) White, and sons Wyatt Bastian and Lou Rodriguez. Three grandchildren. Parents Larry and Myrna Bastian, brother Nick (Jill) Bastian, nephew Casey (Raquel) Bastian, niece Becky (Aaron) Johnson 2 great nephews and 2 great nieces. Celebration of Life will be held on April 8th, 2022, at 2 pm. Porterville Fair Grounds, 2700 Teapot Dome Ave.
