David was born in Porterville, California where he resided in a farmer's lifestyle. David was a
friendly, caring individual who loved family, animals and history. David earned his AA Degree from Porterville College and especially liked to study entomology which aided his future career. During his employment with the with the California Food and Agriculture Department, David worked on the pink bollworm, sharpshooter, and whitefly programs until his retirement. David was a life-long active member of the Porterville Church of the Nazarene.
David was proceeded in death by father Donald Overholt, mother Dorothy Overholt, sister
Darlene Kay Overholt, brothers-in-law, Steve Odenback and Ty Sturgeon. David is survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Harold Ellis, Dotty and Robert Bogle and sister Deanna Sturgeon, stepmother Hope Overholt and his many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at the Porterville Funeral and Crematory at 765 W. Henderson Avenue, followed by internment at the Woodville Cemetery. Visitation hours will be open at 8:00 A.M. that morning. Those who wish may make contributions to the American Cancer Society in David's name.

My very first job (at barely 18 years of age) was with David, working for the State of California as a student assistant for the Comstock Mealybug Project, being administered by UC Riverside. He was a kind young man then, and it was always great to see him out and about in years after--still a very kind human being. Love and blessings sent to his family in his loss...he will be missed.
