Douglas Watkins Obituary
Doug graduated from Monache High School where he was active in sports, FFA, and music. He was also a graduate of Porterville College and Fresno State University. He worked in sales and communication for 30 years until his retirement in 2016.
He was a former white water river guide on the Kings River and enjoyed sharing the experience with family and friends. He was a past member of River Island Country Club where he played many rounds of golf with longtime friends. Doug loved to cook for family and friends during the holidays - especially at Christmas. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. One of his favorite things to do was travel with family. Last December, he fulfilled a dream by traveling to Minnesota with his son to go ice fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Karen Watkins of Visalia; son Aric Champagne (Sierra) of Livermore; daughter Amy Champagne of Clovis; son Ben Watkins(Lauren) and newborn grandson Mason Douglas Watkins of Aurora, Colorado; and sister Pam Bradley (Paul) of Porterville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Please join the family for a Celebration of Life on Friday, October 22, 2021 between 1:00 and 4:00 at River Island Country Club.

We wish we had more years to know Doug, but we will always remember him as a sweet, exuberant guy at Aric and Sierra´s wedding, grilling and making everyone feel like family. When Sierra told us about the birthday meal he prepared for her - not just one of her favorite foods but all of them - we were reminded of what a special family she had joined. We are so sorry that you all lost his embrace too soon, and hope the many good memories sustain you and keep him with you. Sending our love.

Doug and I worked together in the wireless industry. WE always had fun working together. Upbeat and full of joy he was. I was saddened to hear of his loss.
