Ginger Tate Obituary

Ginger Tate, a resident of Porterville for many years, passed away in her Bakersfield home on Thursday, May 9, 2013 surrounded by her family. Ginger was born in South Dakota, May 28, 1939 – she was 73 years old. Ginger was raised on the California coast, where she met and married the love of her life, Ward Tate. They were married for 50 years, and raised their four children in Porterville.
Ginger was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a very loving and selfless woman who always put everyone else's needs above her own. The moments Ginger treasured the most were those she spent surrounded by her family and friends. Those who knew Ginger always looked forward to being spoiled by her kindness, smile, and friendship.
Ginger graduated from Porterville College, and worked for Porterville Schools, and Tulare County Housing Authority for many years. In her early retirement, Ginger began a career in real estate – but opted out of that to travel with her late husband, Ward. They enjoyed many years of traveling and ranching together. After the death of her beloved Ward, Ginger moved to Bakersfield where she continued a very active lifestyle, and developed many new friendships.
Ginger is preceded in death by her husband, Ward Tate and daughter, Gerri Tate-Cranley.
Ginger is survived by a sister and her husband, Tom and Toni Lee of Eugene Oregon; a daughter, Terri Tate of Porterville and her children, Ryan, Megan and Natalie; a son, Joe and Sandy Tate of Springville, and their children, Brandon, Colin and Mallory; a son, Frank and Julie Tate of Tehachapi, and their children Samantha and Frankie; her daughter Gerri's son, Derek and Dolores of Lake Oswego, Oregon. Ginger had five great-grandchildren, Luke, Miriam, Claire, Ryan and Krista. Ginger also had a loyal companion, her adorable Yorkie "Baby-Love" – now living with Aunt Toni in Oregon!
Ginger will be buried with her husband, Ward, and daughter, Gerri. A Graveside service will be held at Vandalia Cemetery on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 10:00 AM.
