Heidi Lynne Newlin Gutierrez

1973 - 2017

Our Precious Heidi passed into the arms of Jesus Oct.7, 2017, after a courageous 9 year battle with cancer. A piece of our heart is gone. Her tidal wave of wisdom, love, encouragement & faith in God continually washes over us, reminding us to soak up each precious moment. Born April 20, 1973 and raised in Lindsay Ca., she graduated from Lindsay High, Porterville College, and CSUB, where she earned a degree in Liberal Studies and her teaching credential. Heidi was an amazing teacher, loved by her students and colleagues, challenging all to bring the best out in every child. Her presence lit up a room and her laughter was contagious. Part of her legacy is a group of friends called "TEAM HEIDI", who endeavor to give others affected by cancer the same loving care she received during her struggle with cancer. Included are scholarships to local high school students, Relay for Life & Pink Heals. Heidi leaves behind her devoted husband of 20 years, Robert Gutierrez, Sons: RJ, (Gina), Isaac, Xavier, Diego, and daughter Audrey, her brother Kyle Newlin (Kerry) and her parents, Paul Newlin (Linda) and Peggy Newlin King (Jim), and her grandaughter Rosalina. Heidi also leaves a loving extended family and literally hundreds of devoted friends. She was preceded in death by her adored cousin, Shelly Evans Graesser, her grandparents Ken & Fern Williams, Dorothy Stadtmiller, Gwen & Eli Newlin and her cousin Hannah Hartwell. She would tell you to Love God deeply, love others authenticly. and live life to the fullest, soaking up every moment. We have the handprint she left on our hearts and sparkle she left everywhere! A celebration of her life will be at The Nazarene Church, Saturday, Oct. 14 at 11:50 a.m.
