Jeffery Michaelis Obituary
Jeff was born in Porterville, California on January 23, 1962. He was the son of Ronald and Dorothy Michaelis. Jeff attended Grand Avenue United Methodist Church and in 1980 graduated from Porterville High School, but not before breaking the school record in pole vaulting and being elected Senior Boy of the Year.
Jeff attended college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he was a member of the fraternity Alpha Gamma Rho. Jeff graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Agricultural Management in 1985. In July of 1985 Jeff married Julie Ann Jones whom he had met at Porterville High School. They have two sons: Christopher and Brandon.
From 1985 to 1994 Jeff & Julie resided in Sacramento, California where they were active members of Hope United Methodist Church. While living in Sacramento Jeff worked in the leasing business. In 1994 they moved to the San Diego area to manage his father's (Ron) Citrus Nursery. Later Jeff purchased acreage for growing flowers. His business was called Floral Mountain.
Jeff is survived by his sons Christopher Michaelis and Brandon (June) Michaelis, his parents Ronald & Dorothy Michaelis, his siblings Mark (Margarita) Michaelis, Beth (Paul) Meyer, Dean (Kristen) Michaelis and Pati (Eric) Dowd, his father-in-law Richard Jones, and numerous nephews and nieces.
At 11:00am on May 4 there will be a graveside service at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Porterville, California. Reverend Don Roulsten will deliver the graveside service with the assistance of Porterville Funeral and Cremation Center. A reception will follow at the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Family and friends are welcome to attend the graveside service and the reception immediately following.

I´m heartbroken. Although I haven´t seen Jeff in years, he has always been a dear friend to me.

Jeff was one of the most kindness and understanding person I have ever known. We had considerable amounts of conversations. I never heard him complain about a person or situation. He talked often of his two boys. He generally called late at night and we had many open conversations.
He will be greatly missed by Lora and me.
We are both so sorry for the loss of such a great son n law. May god bless all the family.

My deepest heartfelt sympathies to the Michaelis family. Jeff and I pole vaulted together in high school. I was one year behind him and obviously he was a better vaulter. I looked up to him and he was always helpful and offered advice on how I could improve. My only regret is not besting his record in my senior year! (Didn´t come close). Although I had not seen him since shortly after high school, I remember him as a great person. A shocking loss
