Claudette Aline Romprey Crockett, one of God’s Angels, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 9, 2025.
Born in Winooski, VT on September 12, 1932, Claudette graduated from Cathedral High School before entering the United States Women’s Army Corp. She graduated from Teletype Operating School and worked in communications at the Pentagon. In 1952, Claudette married the love of her life, Andrew B. Crockett, Sr and settled first in Winooski, VT and the later in Hampton, VA. They were married 55 years until Andrew’s death in March 2007.
Claudette is a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She loved her Lord, her church, and led by example a life in Christ that she wished for her children as well. She had a loving and gentle spirit. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, Nana and Great-Nana, and friend! Claudette adored her 10 grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren from the day they were born.
Claudette was blessed to have such wonderful, spiritual, true friends in her life, the relationships most cherished with Carol and Ron Bruce, Frankie and Howard Shye, Nancy Smith, Jean Mahoney, Ching and Jesse Abalos.
She was also so blessed to have such wonderful neighbors, Daniel and Katie Hines, Eddy and Nikki Wagner, Adrian and Dee Banks, Sue Guiterrez and son Rey; Bill Boyd and Joyce. Thank you all and God bless and keep you always.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Pete Romprey; her husband, Andrew B. Crockett Sr.; infant brother, Raymond; brother, Bob; and sisters, Carol Romprey, Beverly Donahue, and Nancy Tennien. Claudette is survived by her five children, Andy and wife Alyce Crockett, Claudia Ann and husband John Turpin II, Andria Aline Crockett, Claudine Frances and husband David Loveless, Julie and Karchner; her 10 precious grandchildren, John Turpin III (Jenny), Michelle Mills(Danny), Patrick Andrew Turpin(Erica), Jenna Crockett Dooley(Adam), Drew Crockett III, Erica Dunn(Chris) Davide Loveless(AJ), Ashley Allen(Bradley), Russell Karchner, Briana Karchner; and 14 great-grandchildren,, Rylan, Delaney, Noah, Abigail, Bella, Rhett, Sarha, Autumn Rose, Logan, Crystalyn, Jade Bella, Landry, Henry, Juniper, Wilder, and Ruby.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to those that assisted Claudette during her time of illness spent at Sentara Careplex hospital, and the Hampton VA Medical Center staff, especially Dr. Das, Penney Harper, Michelle and Ramey. Also a special thank you to her two daughters, Andria and Julie who cared for mom on a daily basis for 16 years. Also a big thank you to her oldest daughter, Claudia, who was Mom’s medical POA.
Claudette’s greatest joys were spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; daily mass on TV with Father Crisp on the National Shrine of Divine Mercy Church. She loved the outdoors, flowers and birds, classical music, and occasionally enjoyed a fun day out to Rosies for a juicy hamburger and fries and a bit of fun playing the machines.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2150 Cunningham Drive, Hampton at 10 am, Monday, October 20, 2025. A private family burial will take place in Parklawn Memorial Park.
