Joe Lux Obituary

Joe Rolland Lux passed peacefully on Thursday December 25, 2025 at home with family in Peebles, Ohio at age 78, following a short illness.

He is survived by his son Brian Lux, daughter-in-law Margaret Lux and their son Andrew Lux; daughter Rev. Holly Lux-Sullivan, son-in-law Kevin Lux-Sullivan and brother Jerry Lux.

Joe was preceded in death by his brother Kenny Lux and by his wife Shirley Ruth Lux (1947-2024). Joe and Shirley were married for 50 years and she was the love of his life.

Born February 20, 1947, in Dayton to Clifford (Fats) and Edna Lux both deceased. Primarily living in New Holland, the family operated Lux and Sons Welding and a variety of associated endeavors. Those years working in the welding shop had a profound influence on Joe all his life.

A graduate of Miami Trace High School in 1965, Joe served in the U. S. Marine Corps (1966-67). He was very proud of his service and frequently recalled with great fondness his time in the Marines. As is widely known, "Once a Marine always a Marine." Shortly after he left the Marine Corp Joe chose to learn computer programming, a bold choice in the late 1960s. He excelled and worked in the field for 30 plus years both as an employee and an independent contractor. Often commuting from Fayette County to Columbus, Dayton or Cincinnati. He worked for companies like Duriron, NCR, EDS, WOSU and retired from YUSA in 2013. Joe especially enjoyed his time as a choir member at First Presbyterian Church of Washington C.H. and valued the many friendships he made there.

There will be a celebration of life for Joe and Shirley at a later date.
