A memorial service for Sharon Lynne Mavis, 63, of Bloomingburg, was held Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Gayle Hansen Browne, vicar at the church, was the celebrant and the Rev. Jennifer Oldstone-Moore, deacon at the church, read the Gospel and offered prayers. Phillip Weller accompanied the St. Andrew's Choir on the organ. Shannon Jacobs was the soloist. Jill Dreves read the poem "Why I Wake Early." Pam Conley and John McCullough were the lectors and Liz Rea and Pauly Luneborg served as ushers. Bob Rea was the crucifer and Scott Caputo and John McCullough were the bagpipers. Claudia Coe and Sue Oesterle were the altar guild coordinators and Tom Trimmer was the sound engineer. Julia Hidy was the coordinator of the luncheon and wake in Story Fellowship Hall that immediately followed the service.
A private interment will be at a later date in the Washington Cemetery under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.
Sharon, a former mediator for the Fayette County Juvenile Court and children's librarian at the local Carnegie Public Library and wife of Geoffrey S. Mavis, died Friday, February 12, 2016, after two years of intensive therapy for breast cancer.

Hi Jeff,
It was with intense heartache when I heard of Sharon's passing. I understand more fully what a brave person she was to handle this illness. She was always the light in your life as I recall your smile every time you talked about her, when she was with you or you were apart. She will be greatly missed and touched many in a kind manner. Much love to you and your family. I wish I could have been there. Will talk soon.
