Alex at the age of 67 passed away at his home on Sunday, March 9, 2008. He was born December 12, 1940 in Eden, Texas. Alex worked as a Truck Driver for Yellow Freight. He was a member of the Teamsters local #439. He retired from Yellow Freight. He was a graduate of Edison High School in Stockton.

Alex loved to fish and hunt and go camping, he loved the outdoors, but was so ill for so long he couldn't do these things anymore, but now he is doing all the things he loved. With Ronnie his brother-in-law; his uncle Beryl; aunty Viola; his father-in-law Wally. He now can sit and eat cantaloupe every day with his mother-in-law Frances, they loved to do that. Alex was so loved by many people in his life. He touched the lives of many of his little league boys, it made him so proud when the boys which are all men today but would still stop by just to say "Hi Pops how you doing?". And I know he was proud when Wolf (James Wright) carried his casket and Anthony Jones spoke at the funeral about how Pops taught him about balance in his life through baseball just by saying (lower the bridge.) all of these boy's don't even know the impact they made on Pops life. We never had the chance to be with our daughter of 27 hours, but God placed in our lives along with all the boys a number of daughters, Tara, Kathleen, Sophia, Lisa, Terry, Gloria and Irma and many more and he loved them all like his own. He was blessed with friends Steve and Angelo who spent many hours sitting with him when he got very ill. Thank You both, I know that meant so much to him. I know he heard my cousin's Linda and George speak in his behalf I would like to Thank You on his behalf it meant so much. Thank You brother Ray. We are so sorry to hear of Alex's passing. Some of the best memories of our lives were of the Giants team at National Little League. Alex never failed to come and say hi when we would run into him years later, and it was just like old times. Such a kind, friendly and upbeat person. Our family feels so fortunate to have known not only Alex but the entire family. Please know our thoughts are with you and Alex Jr., and Eric and Allen. We will never forget Alex and the entire Hernandez family.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I miss you pa, so very much. Its hard to think that someone who meant so much to me could go so fast. I will always remember our times we had together, and the important things you have taught me. You always was so proud to be our grandfather. Like you told me once before " I'm a damn good grandfather" You were right. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't be half the man I am today. Thanks for everything. Now that you are in peace, I want you to know I plan on teaching my kids the many things you taught me. Fishing, boating, even the small talk bull sh??ing. I'm glad the last words we had with each other was " I love you".
