Barbara Morgan Hembree

Barbara Morgan Hembree, 98, of Stockton, was born October 1, 1909 in Riverside, where she spent her early childhood. She passed away August 12, 2008 in Stockton. She was a graduate of Orland High School in Orland and received her B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles and her M.A. from University of Southern California. Mrs. Hembree was a member of Pi Lambda Theta--from which she received a national award for research in education, Phi Alpha Theta, Delta Kappa Gamma, National Education Association, California Retired Teachers' Association, P.T.A.-life member, and Unity Church. She was employed 38 years in the public schools of California as a teacher, counselor and administrator. She worked for Stockton Unified School District from 1950-1975, retiring as Vice-Principal of Stagg High School.
Mrs. Hembree was a volunteer counselor at Crestwood Manor. She traveled to every state of the union and took two European trips. She had numerous hobbies; one was making over 500 ming trees for friends, church and her personal collection.
Mrs. Hembree was the loving mother of the late Everett B. Morgan (d. 1993), beloved widow of the late Everett B. Morgan Sr. (d. 1948), beloved wife of the late Ray Calvin Hembree, devoted daughter--and only child--of the late Corrie Coles and the late John Allen Van Kirk (Chief of Police in Riverside) and close friend to many.
Arrangements entrusted to the care of Wallace-Martin Funeral Home, 520 N. Sutter St., Stockton. Private inurnment at Park View Mausoleum. Tributes may be expressed to Silent Unity, Unity Village, Missouri or Delta Humane Society, Stockton.

To the friends of Barbara Hembree...our sincere condolences on the loss of your friend..!! We recently purchased barbara's home. If anyone has a story or two about this unusal and unique lady and home we would like to hear from you.....was the 7' Tiki in her garden from one of her many trips...? the home has a nice energy to it
