Ed Couch, a lifelong resident of Stockton passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 after a brief illness at the age of 78. Ed was born on July 4, 1942 to Mary Ann and Leo Couch. He graduated from Stagg High School in 1960 and went on to receive an AA Degree in Criminal Justice from San Joaquin Delta College. He enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after serving in the Honor Guard and as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division where he was awarded a Parachutist Badge and also received the Army Expert Marksmanship Badge (M-14) award. After he was discharged from the Army, he went to work in the family auto supply business until he was hired by the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office where he served thirty honorable years and retired at the rank of Lieutenant. Upon his retirement Ed became an avid golfer and was a former member of the Stockton Golf and Country Club where he was fondly nicknamed "The Commish". He was proud of achieving two hole-in-ones at Elkhorn & Stockton Country Clubs. Ed was also a former member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge and Sunrise Rotary. He was preceded in death by his parents Mary Ann Couch Schnell and Leo Couch, his brother Don Couch, his sister-in-law Donna Couch, his nephew Todd Couch and in-laws Roger and Rachel Boschetti. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years Rogine Couch, his brother Bob Couch (Claudia), his nephews Jeff Couch and Ben Couch and his nieces Helen Couch Wright, Christine Couch and Amber Couch along with numerous cousins. Ed was a true patriot born on the Fourth of July and always enjoyed celebrating the holiday with family and friends. Until we meet again, you will always be in our hearts. Rogine my dear long time friend. My heart breaks for you. Ed was a loyal husband & friend, a man of his word. Some our best most fun time were shared with Ed and you Rog. Never thought of one of you without thinking of the other. You & Ed were there to help Bob get through the loss of his daughter, Cathy. What dear friends. Bob was so overcome by yours & Ed’s generosity & help. God Bless you Rogine & keep you in his loving care.
My love, Alice Fouts
