I grew up next to Gene in stockton. I always hung out with his grandkids. Im 23 & even though he was my neighbor, he felt more like an uncle! He was my dads friend on the block & always said hello. I remember him being at my father rosary, I'll be at yours gene!! Thank you for being my neighbor!

I went through school with Eugene. I was Confirmed with Gene at St Paul's Lutheran
Church. We played football at Lodi High School. Gene was always a nice guy smiling all the time. I was happy to read that he had a wonderful family and a great life. he certainly was a special person.

I first met Gene through his wife, Minnie, when she and I both taught music for the Stockton Unified School District. Gene was a constant presence. His was always there to lend a hand-helping to move chairs and music stands, passing out programs, sharing a laugh. He talked a lot, but listened even more.
In retirement he continued to serve. He would mow lawns for the elderly. He organized honor guards for departed American Legion members. He ushered at concerts.
I was shocked to hear of his passing. He had suffered a stroke but was on the mend. He had undergone surgery, but was healing nicely.
On his last day, he came to Lodi to visit his parents' graves. He and Minnie toured Lodi and ended up at Lodi Lake when God called him home. What a fitting end for one of God's faithful servants.
