Filbert Collaso Gonzales
July 18, 1914 - December 22, 2009
Filbert C. Gonzales, age 95, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, after a short illness. He was born July 18, 1914, in Mesa, Arizona. Filbert was the devoted husband of the late Mary Gonzales, loving father of Mary (Armando) Vanni of Stockton, and the late Manuel Gonzales and David Gonzales. Father in law of Jessie Gonzales of Sacramento and Darlene Gonzales of Modesto. Cherished grandfather of Tony Vanni of Stockton, Greg (Debbie) Vanni of Manteca, Mark Gonzales and Michael Gonzales of Sacramento, proud great grandfather of Gina Vanni of Solvang, Joey Vanni of Stockton, Nicole Vanni and Stephanie Vanni of Manteca.
He was a resident of Stockton over 70 years and worked as a diesel mechanic for over 40 plus years in many local trucking firms, from Garvey Truck Service, Scanavino Trucking, Cherokee Freight Lines and retiring in 1988 from Lodi Waste Management. Filbert was active in the Oak Park Seniors. He loved the Concerts in the Park and was a wonderful dancer who enjoyed dancing into his final years. Filbert was a wonderful man and will be remembered by his family and friends for his warm smile and unconditional love. He took great pride in his family and was always generous and encouraging to all whom he met. He will be forever missed and his spirit will remain in the hearts of those he touched.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Presentation 1515 W. Benjamin Holt, Stockton on Monday December 28, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at DeYoung Memorial Chapel 601 N. California St., Stockton on Sunday December 27 from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Committal will follow the service at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.

Many of os at the Oak Park Senior Center miss Fil. He was a very nice man and we enjoyed seeing his friendly smile every morning. Our condolences to his family and other friends.
