Freddie G. Armenta

March 5, 1935 - August 18, 2008

Beloved son of Soledad Estrada and Francisco Estrada and brother of Mary, Virginia, Carol, Mary, Esther, Rachel, Linda, Josie, Becky, and Rosie, Raul, Henry, Alfred, Jessie, Raymond, Frankie, and Johnny. Preceded in death by his loving wife Ruth M. Armenta of 40 years. Dad to Frances Silva (Raul), Elena T. Spice (Hal), Frank Trujillo, Jr. (Pat), Pauline Stallings (Steve) Isabel Garcia and Joe S. Trujillo numerous loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and uncle to many nieces and nephews as well a good friend to many others.

Freddie was a union organizer early on for the United Farm Workers of America. Both Freddie and his wife Ruth worked closely with Cesar Chavez and others to help improve the working conditions and wages for all farm workers. Together they made the 1966 historic walk from Delano to Sacramento to bring our nation's attention to the plight of all farm workers. Freddie and Ruth received special commendations for their work from the UFW. Freddie and Ruth moved to Stockton in 1973, where Freddie worked at Valimet for 25 years, beginning as a laborer and worked his way up to Supervisor. After his retirement, Freddie donated his time 3 days a week as volunteer at a local food bank for many years. Freddie was an honest, loyal, generous loving family man and went home to God and his beloved wife Ruth on Monday, August 18, 2008.

A Celebration of Freddie's life will be held at Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary at 809 N. California St. on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. There will be a short service for Freddie on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 1:00 -2:00 p.m. before leaving for the cemetery. A luncheon will be held at On Lock Sam's (333 South Sutter St.) following his burial.

Now that the services are all over and now that it has finally set in that you are gone to be with my tia, im happy and sad. The Lord tells us to be celebrate when one of his servants goes to heaven and at times our natural is selfish and we
dont celebrate, we are sad instead.
You are now with your beautiful darling Ruth, grandma Chole,grandpa Pancho, tio Johnny, tio Raymond, tio Frankie and my brother Emilio. Your memories will keep us going, your were an awesome man with a gentle spirit and a sparkle in your eyes. We will always love you. Rest in Peace.
