Leonardo Molina Gandola, tatay Narding, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 in Stockton, California at the age of 86. Tatay Narding, was born November 6, 1921in Dipolog City Philippines to Celestino Gandola and Maura Molina. He was a very loving, caring and patient husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He grew up in Dipolog City, Philippines and attended St. Vincent High School. During his young adulthood, he was a merchant, buying and selling farm produce between the Islands of Dumaguete & Dipolog. After several years as a merchant and surviving a boating accident, he decided to stay on the mainland and help his family manage their business and farm.
At a young age of 25 he met his future wife, Teofista Magsayo, a teacher, in Dapatan. He courted her for 10 years, and at the age of 35 they married and settled in Linay. They had three beautiful daughters, Grace, Fe and Estela Hope. In 1982 Narding and family immigrated to the U.S. and resided in Stockton. For several years he worked for several farms in San Joaquin County before retiring. During Narding's free time he enjoyed being with his family, grand- kids and great-grandkids. He was also kept busy by helping his wife garden and tending to the family's pets.
Less than two months ago Narding became a widower. He loved his wife dearly and considered her his soul mate.
He is survived by his three daughters; sons-in-law, Edon, Jo-jo, Rey; grandchildren, Cliff and wife, Clare, Maureen and husband, Josh, Anthony and fiancé, Jessica, Kurt, Jeremy, Jerissa, Andrew and Raeanna and great-grandkids, Presley, Xavier, Kaitlin, Skyler, Liam and Camryn.
Friends and family are invited to visit Tuesday, May 6, 2008, 8:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m.at Chapel of the Palms Funeral Home, 303 S. California St., Stockton. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at St. Luke's Church at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery and a reception at Stockton Inn, Hyw. 99 and East Waterloo Rd.,Stockton
