Raymond Harrison Obituary

Auburn, CA

Raymond "Bill" Harrison, Jr.

March 19, 1945 - April 23, 2008

Born March 19th, 1945 in Stockton, CA. Passed away April 23rd, 2008 in Auburn, CA.

Proceeded in death by parents, Raymond Sr. and Pearl, and siblings, Steven and Saundra. Survived by wife of 39 years, Virginia; sister, Sharon of Santa Maria; children: Ann Drais and her husband Rich, Daniel and his wife Shelley, Sherri Timmons and her husband Travis, and Steve of Stockton, and grandchildren: Josh, Caleb, Isaac, Hannah and Haley.

He worked for 18 years for American Forest Products, established non-profit homes for troubled boys, named Harrison Homes, supervising them for 20 years, volunteered with the youth at CYA and was part of STARS, a volunteer sheriff's patrol unit. He had a great love of antique hot rods and the outdoors especially fishing but what he loved most was his family. He was a true Christian with a servant's heart. He was a fun loving, generous person who always put others before himself. He had a passion for helping troubled teens and never overlooked an opportunity to help where needed. His health was not always the best but through his trying medical problems he kept a positive attitude, a love of life, and trust in Jesus Christ.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation Sat., May 3rd 9 a.m.-12 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life 2 p.m. at Canyon View Assembly in Foresthill, CA and Graveside Services Sun., May 4th 1:30 p.m. at Cherokee Memorial in Lodi, CA.

My6 best friend "Willy". The world is certainly a better place because he was here. He always use to tell everyone, "this is my friend she speaks dislexic". We always knew what each other meant eventhough those around us were confused. I will miss him so much this year at Hot August Nights.

My love forever

Virginia and Family,

May God's peace keep you smiling, as Bill always kept evryone smiling. His warm heart and practical jokes will be missed by many, but I, like Gary, cannot say goodbye, but am looking forward to the day when we will all be reunited in the big house in the sky.

All my Love,

Joe

I'll always remember you as "wet Willie" because of your jokes. Whenever I saw you the first thing you did was stick your finger in my ear! I'll never forget that and I'll miss you very much. You were always so upbeat and an inspiration to everyone.

Mr. Harrison always made the nurses laugh in the Hyperbaric/Wound Care Department at Mercy San Juan Medical Center. He was consistently upbeat and smiling no matter the situation. He will be remembered as one of our best patients and most of all a dear friend! Virginia was obviously the love of his life and relentlessly supported Mr. Harrison.

We will truly miss you but we know that you are in a much better place, making jokes and making the angels smile!!

Bill, you were my best friend. I'll always remember the great times we had bear hunting in the Trinitys, coon hunting and fishing at Grizzly Island. The jokes we played on each other.
Mostly I'll remember your love for life and people. You had a big heart.
I'll look forward to seeing you in Heaven. We can swap some tall tells.

Uncle Bill

You will be missed so much. Thank you for being a part of my life. You always had a smile on your face and were always the one playing pranks. Because of you, I had my first attempt at bear meat and venison. I haven't eaten it since. Thank you again. I will miss you.

and to Virginia,Ann, Daniel, Sherry, and Steven, and all the rest of the family... my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Love

Willie (Bill) is my best friend. We did so many things together, going to Hot August Nights each year, spending New Years Eve at each others houses, alternating hosting Superbowl Sunday and just visiting. Willie was crusty but that was one of the things that made him who he was. He was always there to help when it was needed. Willie was not the kind of person that was an on again/off again friend. If he was your friend, THEN HE WAS YOUR FRIEND. I am going to miss him a lot, but in my heart I know that he is in a better place and he is waiting for all of us to join him. I won't say goodbye, I'll just say until we meet again.

Bill had a big heart - it seems the more he shared it, the bigger it got.
Bill had a great sense of humor, one of the best medicines on earth. Bill shared his laugh to help heal us all.
Bill also shared his faith in all he did.
Thank you, Bill
Thank you, Virginia for sharing him so warmly with all of us. He will be missed. You both - as a team - made life better for so very many friends, family members, and strangers. Oh yeah - I don't think Bill knew any strangers. We love you,
