Shizue Kishida

May 28, 1917 - January 27, 2008

Shizue Kishida, of Lodi, CA, age 90, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2008. She was born to Goichi and Toki (Yamamoto) Sakoda on May 28, 1917 in Lodi. She was raised and educated in Japan, then was married to Tadaaki Kishida on April 14, 1938 in Lodi. She was a member of the Buddhist Church of Lodi, Lodi Buddhist Women's Association, Japanese American Citizens League and the African Violet Society. Her favorite pastimes were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, and caring for her African Violets (by the Hundreds).

Her husband of 55 years, Tadaaki Kishida, and a brother and sister in Japan precede her in death. She is survived by daughters, Jane Tanaka (Paul) of Minden, NV, Judy Waters of Lodi and Joyce Edwards of Lodi; grandchildren, Laura Tanaka, Randy Tanaka (Amber), Mikal Takahashi, Lisa Cranford (Steve), Steve Satake (Karen), Cindy Satake and Jennifer Edwards; great-grandchildren, Dane Cranford, Cole Cranford, Gavyn Satake, Marissa Rodriguez, Emma Rodriguez and Mason Rodriguez; siblings, Jim Sakoda of Lodi, Yoshiko Doi of Reedley and five sisters in Japan; also several nieces and nephews. "She will be greatly missed by her family and friends".

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 1, 2008, at 4:00 p.m. in the Buddhist Church of Lodi, 23 N. Stockton St, Lodi, Rev. Harry Gyokyo Bridge officiating. Private inurnment will be in Chapel of Flowers at Cherokee Memorial Park, Lodi. A Family Memorial Registry may be signed in her memory at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, near Beckman Road, Lodi, on Wed. and Thur. from 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Fri. from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
