Aug. 18, 1944 - Sept. 27, 2008
Verlend Claude "Whitey" Coy was born in Sterling, IL August 18, 1944 and passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday September 27, 2008. Whitey, along with his mother Ranatha Coy and two sisters came to California from Illinois in 1956. Whitey attended at Trinity Lutheran Elementary School, Stockton Junior High and graduated from Alonzo Stagg High School as part of the class of 1962. Whitey was married at Trinity Lutheran Church to his late wife Barbara K. Groves in 1967. Whitey was our big teddy bear who always had open arms for a hug. He enjoyed dancing and a party with friends and family and even got some gambling done at his favorite casinos in Reno, Tahoe and lately in Jackson. Whitey will be very much missed and remembered. We love you!

Claudia & Bev,
I am so sorry to hear of Whitey's passing. I know how much you will miss him, you were all so close growing up. Although it has been years since I have seen any of you I have very, very fond memories of my childhood because the Coy family was a part of it. Whitey was always happy, joking and full of fun, remember the plays in the basement? My thoughts and prayers are with you, his daughter, family and friends. God Bless You All
