Adrian Vandervoort Obituary
Adrian J. Vandervoort, age 85, of Gardiner died Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at the home of his daughter, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Vandervoort was born September 10, 1922 in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, the son of the late Johannes A. and the late Theodora C. (Alkemade) Vandervoot, one of eleven children.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Cardinal Spellman Council # 5800, and the 4th Degree Assembly and color guard.
He was an Eucharistic Minister at St. Charles Church, Gardiner, and previously at St. Joseph's Church, Newton, NJ. He also was a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels, Ulster County, NY.
He was the proprietor of Hahn The Florist, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.
He married Wilhelmina H. Van der Geest in February 1951. She died in October 1971. He later married Patricia Dennis. She died in December 2003.
He is survived by four daughters: Theadora and husband, Wesley Woodward of Pine Bush, NY, Theresa and husband, Rodney Mann of Gardiner, NY, Rosemary and husband, Christopher Budney of Wallkill, NY and Christina and husband, Len Mier of Newton, NJ. He is survived by one brother and four sisters: grandson, Adrian Woodward of Newburgh, NY; granddaughter, Julia Bradley of San Antonio, TX; grandson, Konrad Mann of Cornwall, NY; grandson, Lucas Mann of Tillson, NY; grandson, Clifford Budney of Pine Bush, NY; grandson, Christopher Budney of Wallkill, NY; grandson, Lenny Mier of Newton, NJ.
He was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.
Calling hours will be Thursday, August 7 from 5-8 p.m. at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, NY. The funeral will be Friday, August 8 at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Route 44/55, Gardiner, NY. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall, NY.
Donations may be to Meals on Wheels, Ulster County, 467 Broadway, Kingston, NY 12401 or St. Charles Church, Route 44/55, Gardiner, NY 12525.
