Barton Russell Davis of Schuyler, VA, formerly of Middletown, NY, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Hospice House in Charlottesville, VA.

Bart was born on May 2, 1940 to Russell and Ruth Tegeler Davis in Middletown, NY.

He was a graduate of Middletown High School, and attended classes at Piedmont Virginia Community College. He honorable served his country in the United States Air Force. Bart was widely known as a mechanical genius and loved all things about engines. His happiest moments were spent working on or reading about cars and motorcycles, and he could recite the history of even the most obscure and long forgotten motor companies. He was an ASE certified mechanic and generous with his knowledge and expertise to anyone with an engine question. In recent years he worked as a builder and groundskeeper, and had just taken up fishing. He was a member of the Studebaker Drivers Club, and PBF (Partners, Brothers, Friends) Bart loved life and always wore a smile. He has friends everywhere and they are already missing him.

In addition to his parents, Bart was predeceased by his brother Stanley, who died in Vietnam in 1968. He is survived by wife, Jaye; son, Barton of Arizona; sisters, Gloria Smith and her husband Herb and Glenda Foster and her husband Richard; nephew, Herb Smith, Jr.; nieces, Tammy Porter and Suzanne Burton and their families, all of New York State; special cousins, Orsen Davis, Ruth Rollins and Patty Tegeler; a host of family and friends, and his beloved dog, Sophie.

Friends may call at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove Street, Middletown, NY on Sunday, July 20 from 6-9 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 21, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. The Reverend Jeffrey Farley will officiate. Interment will follow in the Calkins Union Cemetery in Milanville, PA.

A Memorial Service in Virginia will be announced at a later date.
