Carl DuBois Obituary

Carl W. DuBois, of Otisville, N.Y., a retired Assistant Engineer for the State Of New York, and formerly a self-employed contractor with his father in A.C. DuBois & Sons, entered into rest on Sunday, June 17, 2007 at Valley View Center in Goshen, N.Y. He was 89.

The son of the late Arthur C. and Angeline Randall DuBois, he was born June 3, 1918 in Middletown, N.Y. He was the husband of Florence DuBois, who resides at home.

Proudly serving his country during WWII as a Navy Hard-Hat Diver, he was honored to perform on the salvage efforts with the Navy including the USS Arizona after it had been sunk by Japan during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Carl was also a member of: the Floyd Carter Post 1079 American Legion in Otisville, the Otisville Fire company, a life member of Phoenix engine Co. #4, having served as former Captain and President, former Town of Mt. Hope Assessor for nine years, Middletown Elks Lodge #1097, former member of Barbers Eddy Rod & Gun Club, as well as Black Brook Rod & Gun Club, a honorary member of Mountain Top Rod & Gun Club and the Mt. Hope Senior Citizens.

Besides Florence, survivors include a daughter, Regina M. DuBois of Albany, N.Y.; a son, Carl E. DuBois and his wife, Barbara, of Otisville, N.Y.; two grandsons, Austin F. DuBois and Griffin C. DuBois; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Clarence DuBois.

Friends may call the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove Street, Middletown, N.Y. on Wednesday, June 20, from 4-8 P.M. where the American Legion services will be held at 7:30 P.M.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 21, at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. The Reverend Jeffrey Farley will officiate. Interment will follow in Holy Name Cemetery in Otisville, N.Y.

Memorial contributions may be made to either: Floyd Carter Post, 1079 American Legion, PO Box 173, Otisville, NY 10963 or to the Alzheimer's Association: Mid-Hudson Chapter, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 102, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601-4027.
