With memorial Day coming up I have been thinking of Cecil and the many good times we had together as a family over the years. We all miss him and wish he were here to answer all our questions and make us laugh like he used to. We miss his sense of humor and his teasing. Being the only girl in a family with five brothers was just great as far as I was concerned. Cecil was the oldest and we looked up to him, I still have questions I would like to ask him, but I have a feeling he is looking down on us all and grinning and saying " figure it out for yourself, you can do it." Ha. He will not be forgotten. Cecils sister ,Shirley Tapp P.S. Thank you to the Oliver Brothers, Ed & Danny Tabor for keeping the guest book going until Dec. 6,2006

It's the day after Thanksgiving and while I’m very sad Cecil is no longer with us, I'm thankful I had the opportunity to know him. I already miss not having our Sunday morning calls talking about which stock will be the next to buy. I always appreciated him calling at 7 or 8 am to make sure we weren’t wasting the day…. ;->

I remember when Cecil retired Sheila wanted to be sure he didn’t get bored and asked if I could help set him up with a computer. We gave him a notebook many years ago and in typical Cecil fashion, he purchased a bunch of books, asked a few questions and got quite proficient with it. Our hope was that he’d find a few people online that shared his passion re: tractors. When I review the entries in this guest book, it's wonderful to see how many people he touched. Pretty amazing to see Minnesota, New York, Iowa, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, California, Missouri, Maryland, Texas, Georgia, Utah, Kentucky, Vermont, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Illinois, North Carolina and the countries of Sweden and Canada.

What a representation! I’m sure he would have been pleased to see the entries from all. Rest in peace Cecil.

Love,

Tom, Sheila, Jeff, Chris and Heather

This is a thank you to all who sent in e-mails concerning Cecils death.I'm Cecils only sister, Shirley, I had five brothers,I must add-they were very good to me growing up and must have protected me as I always felt that. Cecil was my oldest brother,we all looked up to him,for his intelligence which was very evident, but also he was a nice person. He was never afraid to try new things and I believe he liked new challenges, building his own radio, learning morse code, many things over the years - He and my brothers threw cats off the windmill with parachutes on them to see if they would land on their feet. ha! He grew up here in Minnesota but learned to love New York and wanted to stay there, he did come and see us quite often, also he would come on his way to an antique show .He loved the shows and talking to the people that would be there. My husband is a retired farmer and he would have discussions with him about tractors etc., hardly mentioning the Long Green Line that we have.Ha.

He was truly " one of a kind " and that makes me sad,but I'm glad he's through suffering and we'll think of the good times and remember the familiar grin.

Thank you to all who took the time to send in E-mail entries about Cecil, do you realize what that meant to us ? it meant a lot to Lucy and his family and extended family. Thanks again.

Cecil will be truly missed by all! Cecil is my Father-in-law, as I read many of the posts in the guest book I find more and more how truly missed Cec will be. Cec was a wealth of knowledge from machinery to most any subject that a conversation involved. Cec was always interested in your opinion, with his ability to mentally footnote all the ideas that he could also put to good use on The Pnderosa. Our memories shall always be fresh in our family from Cec, just looking at my 16 year old son whom Cec gave a rusty 1965 Wheel Horse Lawn Ranger to, then the look on his face when he drove it in the 2002 Pagent of steam as if it was just taken off the showroom floor. Those are what we shall always remember Cec by, the simple pleasures of life with family and friends that he so loved. Be at peace Cec, Love Laura, John, Johnny, Nick.

I have known Cecil for better than ten years. Meeting him first on-line, then having the privilege to meet him in person several times. He was a true friend and good guy. Someone I always looked forward to talking to. The Antique Tractor hobby , and I have lost a friend.

I am very proud to have met Cecil and to call him a personal friend. His attention to the members of the ATIS tractor list, both on and off the list will never be forgotten by any of us. May his journey through the heavens be made on a fine classic tractor...

Cecil was one of the best friends I never met. As a long term member of the ATIS tractor list he helped me several times with Allis Chalmers questions and sent me pictures of the unusual engineering that made industrial allis' tick. Lucille, I know none of us can feel his loss as much as you do, but be assured that all of us miss him. Carl

Cecil's writings for the tractor bulletin board have been an education for me, a late-comer to old tractors and a 'lurker'--hardly ever posting to the board myself. Listening in on Cecil's stories, comments, and overall wisdom has been a gift. My condolences to all the family.

Unfortunately I never had the chance to meet Cecil in person, only through e-mails, but for many years I've enjoyed reading his posts on the Antique Tractor list.

I've heard it said that the truest measure of a person is in the memories they leave behind. Cecil always came across as a very special man and a true gentleman.

I'm very saddened to learn of his passing and will miss him. My heartfelt condolences go out to you, Lucille, and all the family.

I am not at all sure how to go about this, to properly convey the right message. My contact with Mr. Monson, and I believe he deserves this respect, was through the e-mails of the tractor collecting community. Although I would have been proud to be able to call him by his first name, I am truly saddened that it will not come to pass. It always brightened my day to see postings from this gentleman and I think, from the correspondence I saw, that term best describes this man. My most heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends.

I was really looking forward to meeting Cecil at a tractor show, as I had come to know him through his sharing online with the tractor guys. He was certainly fun to know that way, as he was genuine, talented, industrious and sharing - a man of goodness that was just downright likeable. My condolences to those lucky enough to have known him better.

I have known Cecil for about ten years though the Antique Tractor discussion group on the web. I have greatly appreciated all of his advice on the many questions I had over the years concerning both tractors and general topics as well. He always had useful advice and was able to impart his knowledge very well in writing. Most of all he was very patient and concerned about helping others. He will be greatly missed.

I send my condolences to all of his family and friends.
