Douglas T. Rockwell Sr., "Doug" of Pine Bush, NY, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2021 at Garnet Health, Middletown, NY.
He was born on April 5, 1937 in Pine Bush, NY. He was 83, just six days shy of being 84. He was the son of late Douglas W. and Marjorie C. (Fennell) Rockwell.
Doug served in the Army from 1959-1961. He then worked for Ford Motor Company in Mahwah, NJ for 28 years until they closed. He then worked for many years at Orange County Limousine & Bus Company.
He was a lifetime member of the Pine Bush Hook & Ladder Company, No. 1. In the 70s he was very involved with the Pine Bush Little League and was a member of the Walker Valley Senior Citizens. Anyone that knew Doug, knows he enjoyed his garden and sitting around having a few beers, so please have one for him. When NASCAR was good, he enjoyed watching it with family and friends; he was a huge Mark Martin fan. Doug would never say goodbye — it was always: "Catch you on the late shift"
Doug is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann Marie at home; his brother and sister-in-law, James and Nancy Rockwell of Walton, NY; his children: Douglas T. Rockwell Jr. (Antonia), Robert M. Rockwell, both of Pine Bush, NY and Kathleen M. Zwart (Steven) of Bullville, NY; daughter-in-law, Nina; his grandchildren: Dustin Rockwell (Danika), Alexis Rockwell (Tom Collins), Alyssa Rockwell, Meghan Zwart and Thomas Zwart (Aja Rieger); his great-grandchildren: Jaelene, Rayna, Braden, Kenleigh and Elliana and nephew, Travis Rockwell (Stephanie).
The family would like to express their gratitude to caregivers Debbie and Raven, who went above and beyond for him, and the staff at Garnet Health.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 5. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on April 6, at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc., 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush, NY; burial will be at New Prospect Cemetery, Pine Bush, NY. Due to COVID-19 restrictions capacity is limited. Face mask and social distance requirements mandated by NYS are in effect.
