Edith Tinacci Obituary

Edith Tinacci, former owner of Vadalas Pharmacy in Highland and former longtime resident of Highland, died April 19, 2005 at River Valley Care Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 86.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on July 7, 1917. She married Anthony "Dan" Tinacci on April 26, 1941 in Our Lady of Peace Church in Brooklyn. He died June 8, 1991.

She was a volunteer for Vassar Brothers Medical Center, a member of Catholic Daughters of America, Mid Hudson Senior Citizens, St. Augustine R.C. Church in Highland and the Altar Rosary Society of the church.

Survivors include five grandchildren, Kurt Rohde of San Francisco, Calif., Michael Rohde of Highland, Alicia Vaccaro of Monroe, Susan Rohde of Newburgh and Daniel Rohde of Highland; three great-grandchildren, Cara Marie, Anthony Daniel, and Emma Rose Vaccaro; one sister, Marion Milillo of Cherry Hill, N.J.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Marie Ann Rohde.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 21 at Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, 38 Main St., Highland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, April 22 at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Highland.

Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
