Edna Crabtree Obituary

Formerly of Newburgh, NY

Edna Martha (Jones) Crabtree, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 8:30 p.m., following a long illness, better known as heartbreak, occurring after losing her beloved husband, Arnold Sr. in 2003, following more than 50 years of marriage. Born in Newburgh, NY on October 4, 1934, she was 74. Gone but never forgotten.

Also known as "Edna" and "Babe", she was known earliest to us as "Mommy", becoming "Mom", and later as "Mother", but always there for us.

Remembered and forever loved by her children: daughter, Carol Peterson, son-in-law, Matt, son, Arnold, daughter, Sharon Oglesby, son-in-law, Charlie, son, Cliff, and daughter, Terry; her grandchildren, great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Amy; brother-in-law, Charles; nieces, nephews, various dear friends and of course her faithful, loving cat, Chloe.

Retired union employee of 40 years, NFA graduate, and consummate flea market and yard sale fan. She is finally where she so desired and needed to be, with her cherished Arnold.

Arrangements by Hetrick Cremation Services of Central Pennsylvania, 3125 Walnut St., Harrisburg, PA 17109; 717-545-3774.

Since dad passed, mother never was the same.Lately she suffered both mentally and physically, each day, each hospital visit growing progressively worse, less promising, but still we hung on.Its so difficult to come to the realization, the mindset that"this is not benefitting anyone".You hate to say it,even to think it that its best for everyone, especially her that she be released from this "existing"and finally be allowed to move on ,to be with her love in heaven. While she's still here in a physical state, you want to believe that after all this time it wont be so difficult to finally let go,to say goodbye. But believe me its not easy. The explanation "she's in a better place"does not completely relieve your sorrow.Ever.I grieve every day.One Mother, thats all you'll ever have.Irreplaceble.I know, time heals all wounds, but my system is still in a state of shock i guess.I just cant accept the fact that i'll never ,ever see her again, hear that mischievous laughter, get another birthday card or God forbid, hear her curse a nurse or waiter! She was a pistol! So bad at times, yet always loving, always there for us....Miss you Mommy

I am so sorry to here of your loss. I remember a lot of the good times that were had at the house in Newburgh. I lost my wife 4 years ago and know what it is to have someone close leave suddenly. May you find comfort in knowing that they are now together.
