Edward Bocker Obituary

Barryville, NY

Edward J. Bocker of Barryville, owner of Barryville Exterminating Services and a longtime resident of the area, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla. He was 71.

The son of the late Edward R. and Rita Sinram Bocker, he was born October 26, 1938 in Queens.

Edward was a member of St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church in Yulan. He was a member of Sullivan County Cooperative Extension, PCAC of Long Island, past Fire Chief of Roxbury Fire Dept., and he was a past Lumberland Lion.

A family statement reads: "Edward was a devoted and loving husband and father who took great pride in providing for his family. He enjoyed life and worked so hard. He was so dedicated and unselfish. He enjoyed and took great pride in his property, making a haven for others to enjoy. He was an avid horticulturist. He will be greatly missed by family."

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Claudia Sorrentino Bocker; his children: Charles Von Bocker and his wife, Christine of Maryland, Tia Bocker of New Jersey, Judy Bocker and Larry McAllister of Bethel, Lee Bocker of Long Island City, and Tedd Bocker of Barryville; his brothers: James and Michael Bocker of South Carolina, William Bocker and his wife, Jeralynn of Upstate, NY; his sister, Patricia Ratz and her husband, Robert of Washington; several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday, March 7, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home, Route 97, Barryville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, march 8, at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Yulan, with Fr. Anthony Moore, OFM, officiating. Christian burial will follow at Montoza Cemetery in Barryville.
