Florence Korn Obituary

Monroe, NY

Florence Korn, 94, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 21, 2009. Born in Manhattan, daughter of the late Bertha and Mayer Wieder, Florence earned a degree from Brooklyn College.

The Korn family moved to Monroe in 1947 where they raised five children. Before operating her own nursery school, Florence's last formal teaching position was in the Oxford Depot one room schoolhouse. She and her late husband were long-time active members of the Monroe Temple. She chaired the Sisterhood and Nat was four-term President. During her full and fruitful life, Florence was an inveterate traveler who also enjoyed theater, knitting, crafts, entertaining, wintering in San Diego and the loving company of her many grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nat, two younger brothers, her middle daughter, Lucille Singer of Cape Cod, and her granddaughter, Alana Korn of California.

Surviving are two daughters and two sons: Joyce Korn of New York, Barbara Brodbar of North Carolina, David Korn of New York, and Steven Korn of California; ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
