Glenn G. Muse, beloved, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, entered into eternal life on July 10, 2021 with his loved ones by his side. He was 72 years old.
Son of the late George and Gertrude (Verbrugge) Muse, Glenn was born on June 8th, 1949 in Paterson, New Jersey, raised in Wayne, then Wanaque, before moving to Warwick, New York. He was proud of his roots in America, dating back to 1692. During the 18th century, several of his Forshee/Forshay ancestors settled in Warwick and intermarried with original families. Glenn had an adventurous spirit, and as a teenager, enjoyed "Grease"-style drag racing. He often recounted hilarious stories about his earlier escapades, some being film worthy. He followed his father in the heavy construction business and worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years. After a near-fatal accident while on the job, he became an estimator and eventually started his own business, Muse Estimating Service, with his wife, Miriam. During this time, Glenn earned his private pilot's license, and took family and friends for breathtaking rides over the Hudson Valley. He also delivered Meals On Wheels and volunteered for many church fundraisers.
Glenn loved to travel with his wife, which included trips to Europe and Israel, as well as spending time in Maine and Hatteras Island. He had an avid interest in history and collected an impressive number of books on that subject. Glenn would rather read than watch TV, but he did look forward to the latest episodes of "Gold Rush" as well as his favorite Brit show "Death in Paradise". If he had a weakness, it was a rather substantial sweet tooth, but everyone knew there were worse vices, and who wouldn't like a good piece of buttercream frosted "Jersey" cake!
Whatever project Glenn took on, he gave it his all. Shortcut or halfway was not in his vocabulary. He was an honest, hardworking man who cared deeply, whose loyalty to friends and family was part of his nature. His business associates used the word "trustworthy" to describe him. Glenn had compassion for anyone in need and this extended to all of God's creatures. He stopped traffic to rescue turtles and once saved a rattlesnake from certain death on his road. Faithful and pro-life, he took part in the 2020 March for Life in DC, an inspiring event he planned to attend each year. One of his happiest moments was the birth of his granddaughter, Charlee, who brought so much joy to his life. Family was everything to Glenn, and he worked hard to provide for them, always putting their needs first. Despite many obstacles and health challenges, he never complained or gave in. One always knew where he stood on issues; he wore his heart on his sleeve. "Don't worry, it will be alright," he often said. And we know it will be. Glenn fought the good fight. He kept the faith. He finished the race. We will miss him dearly.
Glenn leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Miriam; sons Robert, David (Leah) and Ian; daughters, Melissa and Stephanie; grandchildren: Kendallyn, Karissa, Lara and Charlee Mae; brothers: Kenny, Bobby and Paul; sisters: Linda Muse-Deo, Debra (Rick) Laibach, and Tina Reynolds; an aunt and uncle; several nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved dog, Griffin. In addition to his parents, Glenn was predeceased by his first wife, Karin and brother, Mark.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Subhedar, and the doctors, nurses, and palliative/pastoral care at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY for their attentive care and communication during Glenn's illness. The kind support from Roger and staff at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home brought comfort at this sad time and will always be remembered.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 16th at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 17th at St. Stephen the First Martyr Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick with Bishop Edward Scharfenberger of Albany, NY officiating.
