Jerica Rhodes Obituary
The daughter of Christopher Rhodes and Lisa Mason, she was born December 10, 1997 in Bridgeport, Conn.
She was a member of St. John AME Zion Church in Highland Falls.
Survivors include her loving parents, father, Christopher Rhodes of Highland Falls and mother, Lisa Mason of Utica, N.Y.; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Linwood Rhodes Jr. of Highland Falls; maternal grandparents, India Mason of Utica and Roosevelt and Shirley Kee of Newburgh; paternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Baker of Montgomery, Ala.; maternal great-grandparents, Sylvia Cozart of Newburgh and Mr. and Mrs. Chano Torres of Kissimmee, Fla.; three sisters, Chasity Rhodes of Highland Falls, India Mason and Bry'anna Colon both of Utica; two brothers, Kore'i Briggs of Newburgh and Israel Mason of Utica; five uncles, Keith, Everett, Trevor Rhodes and Daryl Rowan all of Highland Falls and Mandell Rhodes of Upper Marlboro, Md.; one auntie, Terry Rowan of Highland Falls; and a host of relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 3 from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at St. John AME Zion Church, 7 Muller Ave., Highland Falls.
Services will be held at 12 noon Friday, February 4 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 76 First Street, Newburgh. The Rev. Moses Carter Sr. will officiate.
Interment will be in Eagle Valley Cemetery, Town of Highlands.

He will wipe away the tears and continue to give you faith in these dark hours. The battle is already won. Jesus through His death and resurrection, has conquered death, "that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:15)

My 4 girls attended S.H.S, and we were all deeply saddened to hear of Jerica's loss.. The sadness you all must still be feeling, I cannot fathom. Just know, that our community will be there for you, and keep you in our prayers, always. My youngest daughter, Mollie insists on stopping at the fence, to make sure all of the candles are lit. I have had contact in the past with the Rhodes family through the family business. Mr. Rhodes, who I have had the pleasure of meeting, is an extremely professional, compassionate human being and I can only imagine what a wonderful father figure he was to Jerica.
To Mr. and Mrs. Rhodes, I would like to say that you are both in my prayers along with your family members... and I am keeping in mind that Jerica's Mommy and her family need prayer and comfort as well. My family and I had the pleasure of meeting Jerica at O'Neill's basketball games last year. As she sat talking to my son, I thought, "What a sweet and friendly little girl". As time progressed, I later came in contact with little Jerica at her school's open house. You could not help but to take notice of how smart and articulate she was as she raised her hands with confidence to answer questions.

I had the privilage of meeting Jerica at a Church Fundraiser (Holy Innocents Fish Fry) in May, 2004. Her spirit and zest for knowledge of life was simply endless. Pregnant at the time, I only wished that my child would carry that same passion. Her love for her family was endless and of course she was (and always will be) the apple of her grandparent's eye. Linda, I just loved the way you would exude with pride just talking about her at the OB clinic every time I came in.
