John Ligotino Obituary

Fishkill, NY

John Ligotino, 80, of Fishkill, NY, died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Vassar Bros. Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY.

The son of the late Salvatore and Maria Giandalone Ligotino, he was born, June 18, 1928 in Highland, NY. He was married to the late Syd Schuman Ligotino who predeceased him on October 7, 2000. He graduated from Highland High School, Highland. John was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was employed by Schuman's Army Navy Store in Beacon from 1957 and was proprietor from 1972-1992. He was a member of the Beacon Lions Club, Life member of Protection Engine, Fishkill, and a member of Nelsonville, Fish & Fur Club. He was also a former Little League Coach, Fishkill. John was an avid motorcycle lover, he also loved hunting, fishing, the Yankee's, and the Giant's.

He is survived by his daughter, Suzy and her husband, Larry Myers of Clinton Corners; a son, Michael Ligotino of Fishkill; three grandchildren, Amy DeCarlo and her fiance', Chris Ruhe, Emily DeCarlo and Kerry DeCarlo all of Fishkill; two brothers, Frank Ligotino of Florida and Charlie Ligotino of Highland; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Stubby.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, at Libby Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Teller Ave., Beacon, NY. Burial will be in Fishkill Rual Cemetery, Fishkill.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mid Hudson Animal Aid, 54 Simmons Ln., Beacon, NY 12508.
