Joseph Fitzgerald Obituary

On Saturday, June 16, 2007, Joseph Thomas Fitzgerald, 74, a 35-year resident, passed away peacefully in his home following a devastatingly short and incurable illness. Joe was at home where he wanted to be, with Aimee, his adoring wife and soul mate of 49 years, holding his hands when he departed. Some of the people who loved and respected him gathered soon after: his darling daughter, Jamie, loving son, John, beloved brother, Gerald and loyal, loving friend cum family member, Guy Ennis.

Born in the Bronx on March 9, 1933 to John Fitzgerald, a land surveyor, and Anna Delk Fitzgerald, Joe exhibited an early talent in art. A gifted graphic designer, Joe was admitted to The School of Music & Art, where he graduated with honors at the top of his class, and was awarded a full scholarship to attend Parsons School of Design. Joe excelled at Parsons, and won industry awards for his designs and logos. After Parsons, he was drafted into the Army, and following his discharge, was immediately hired as an art director by the largest and most prestigious Madison Avenue Advertising Agency. He was recruited by other Madison Avenue Agencies to work on major accounts as a Television Art Director-Producer. Eventually, he formed his own agency, and he and Aimee used their creative skills and unique methodology to successfully define and resolve business problems for management in major Fortune 500 companies.

Joe leaves a wealth of original artwork, paintings, designs and logos that illustrate his great talent and versatility. But all of it pales beside the caliber of the man he was, and the legacy of memories he leaves us of his strength, character and integrity: a physically beautiful man unconscious of his own good looks, who was ethical, intelligent, intuitive, caring, humorous, loving, loyal, sensitive, steadfast and ever constant, and true to himself over all the years of his life.

Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Aimee Joyce Fitzgerald and three children: loving daughter, Jamie Joy Fitzgerald-Lubin, husband Ken and grandsons Harrison and Garrett Joe; loving son, John James Fitzgerald, wife Monica, granddaughter Taylor and grandson Brandon; and by Timothy Thomas Fitzgerald, his wife, Bonnie, and granddaughters April and Anna. Joe is also survived by his loving brother, Gerald and his wife, Helene; devoted first cousin, Ray Lane, his four daughters and their families.

A private cremation service was held at the convenience of the family.

Jamie and family,

I just heard about your huge loss. I remember the night at the store when your Dad first got sick and you were so worried. I wish it had turned out differently. Though I never met your Dad, a man's greatest legacy and reflection of himself are always evident in his children. It is with great confidence that I can say that he was the greatest man I never met. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. May you find peace in the memories and allow yourselves to be held up by the circle of love around you. Luanne

Aimee and Family
My heart go's out to you. I know how much you loved joe,and he loved you and his family. Joe was a sweet person and a good man. Like you know I too held willie's hand when he departed to go home to God. I to did everthing I could do to keep willie here. But God had a bigger plan for him. I think joe and willie are in heaven and have alot to talk about. They both are watching over the one's they love. They will aways be in our hearts and our memories NO one can take that away from us. I know how much we miss them and know how much it hurts. You don't know how much I wish I can bring them both back for us. FOREVER AND ALWAYS TILL WE MEET AGAN. Love you Aimee.
