Josephine DeSantis Obituary

Unionville, NY

Josephine DeSantis, 87, of Unionville, NY, died Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Valley View Center in Goshen, NY.

Mrs. DeSantis was born in Manhattan, NY on December 8, 1920, the daughter of Gaetano and Rosina Scotto Piro. She had resided in New York City, moving to Unionville in 1956.

Mrs. DeSantis was a parishioner of Our Lady of The Scapular R.C. Church in Unionville and the Ladies Confraternity at the church. She was a past member of the Minisink Hose Co. Ladies Auxiliary in Unionville and the Unionville Senior Citizens.

Mrs. DeSantis was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas J. DeSantis, in 2001; son, Anthony DeSantis, in 1955 and three brothers & a sister. Mrs. DeSantis is survived by her daughters, RoseMarie McNeil & her husband, James T. of Greenville, NY, Annette Vertalino & her husband, Nicholas J. of Buffalo, NY and Joanne Fleischer & her husband, John D. of Surgoinsville, TN; sisters, Mary Florio of the state of Florida and Carmela Claro of Brooklyn, NY; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 25, at 9:15 a.m. from Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third St., Sussex, NJ to Our Lady of The Scapular R.C. Church, Unionville for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Unionville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, October 24, from 4-8 p.m.
