Keith Hamlin Obituary

Keith T. Hamlin, of Liberty, owner of Hamlin Excavating Co. and a lifelong are resident, entered into rest on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006 in Liberty. He was 55.

The son of the late Carl and Elizabeth "Betty" Kelly Hamlin, he was born Nov. 13, 1950 in Liberty.

In a family statement, "He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and a great friend to all who knew him. He loved spending time with his family and was an avid hunter, ice fisherman and golfer."

Keith was a graduate of Liberty High School, Class of 1968, attended SUNY Delhi and graduated from West Virginia University in 1973. He was a member of the Liberty Hose and Truck Co. #2; a member and past Exhalted Ruler of the Liberty Elk's Lodge #1545; a member of the Sullivan County golf club Monday night league; a member and president of Wild Meadow Game Preserve; a member of the National Rifle Association; a member and president of the Wednesday night Concord Golf League; a member of the Aden Night Riders Snowmobile Club and Empire State Highway Contractors Assoc.; and former member of the CBSC Advisory Board.

Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years and best friend Susan Lowery Hamlin at home; one son David K. Hamlin and wife Vanessa of Grahamsville; one daughter, Colleen DeCiel and husband Chris of Purling, N.Y.; two sisters, Deborah Tamous of Ft. Myers, Fla. and Liberty and Barbara Hamlin and her husband Curtis Struna of West Sand Lake, N.Y.; two brothers, Clifford Hamlin and wife Pamela of Liberty and Kelly Hamlin and wife Theresa of Parksville, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Kayden Faith Hamlin, Brenna Hope Hamlin and Christopher Scott DeCiel Jr.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a brother, John "Jackie" Hamlin.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11 from 6-9 p.m. and Thursday, Jan. 12 from 11 am. to noon in the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty. Liberty Elk's Lodge #1545 will conduct services Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home followed by firematic services at 11:15 a.m.

Spiritual services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12 in St. Peter's Church, 264 N. Main St., Liberty. Monsignor William Collins and the Rev. Jearl Wallace will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the First Presbyterian Church, 81 S. Main St., Liberty or St. Peter's Church, 264 N. Main St., Liberty, NY 12754.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Harris Funeral Home, Liberty.
