Laura Ciaffone Bronk

Laura Ciaffone Bronk of Newburgh, a retired seamstress for the Loring Coat Factory, entered into rest Wednesday, May 10, 2006 in Montgomery Nursing Home, Montgomery, N.Y. She was 96.

Daughter of the late Michael and Josephine Pizzutti Ciaffone, she was born March 11, 1910 in Campoli, Italy. She married M. Deforest Bronk in November 1934, and were married until his passing in 1977.

Laura's family sends a heartfelt thanks to the staff (our friends) of the Montgomery Nursing Home for all their love and care. We will cherish the memories.

Laura arrived in the United States from Italy in 1914. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. She was past President and past President of Retirees of the I.L.G.W.U.

Laura loved her family and enjoyed their gatherings. As a hobby, she enjoyed traveling around the world learning about other cultures.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Laura Jane Gardner of Newburgh; her sisters, Margaret Goodbread of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mary Burnett of the Town of Newburgh; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Deforest M. Bronk; her beloved granddaughter, Michelle Gardner Davis; her brothers, Louis and Anthony Ciaffone; and her sister, Elizabeth Alfano.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 14 at Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 15 at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
